Thanks to everyone who came out, sadly too many
to name here. This was the best Crossroads
gig to date. In our 2 year existence, this was the best crowd,
and the best show we put on. That in and of itself is amazing
when you consider the fact that Chris, Jim and I were all sick that
day. I was stuck in bed most of the day with a fever.
Sadly we had to cancel the 'Crossroads Kissing Booth, which was
scheduled to go on in between the 2nd and 3rd set. Sorry,
ladies. Better luck
next week.
I had never played
at the Horsham Inn before. I'd never been inside before. I've
been to the driving range and miniature golf next door a
gazillion times -- even been inside the base across the street. But
never the Horsham Inn. And I would always hear my
musician friends fondly talk of this venue, and how they'd had many
great memories playing there. Ever since I moved into the area
in the early 1990s, I wanted in. Only took 18 me years to accomplish
it, but now it's finally happened.
First off, I want to thank Mike,
Joanne and Ann for giving us the opportunity to play here. This
was a long time in the making. I remember at one soccer
practice (I coach soccer for my kids' teams) I casually
dropped into a conversation with Ann that "Yeah so more passing with
the outside of the foot, and I play in a band, I wanna play
the Horsham Inn." I came off sounding a little cheesy. Well, there
were more discussions, a little more cheese, some whining,
and then some groveling, followed by more discussion, then a
demo CD! The CD did bring some interest into the
mix, but then things kinda went away for a little while.
Then one night we played at Tex Mex in North Wales, and Scott, Ann
and Joanne were on hand to see us play. They decided that
maybe we should make this thing happen once and for all. We
booked the dates, and here we are.
As I said
earlier, this was the best crowd Crossroads has experienced.
The dance floor got busy early, and stayed that way
all night. And everyone was having the best time. Several
people took pictures throughout the night. And you
can just see it on everyone's face -- this was a great
night. And we're thrilled that we're going to be back here two
more times before the summer.
I do owe
an apology of sorts. The overall band volume was excessive that
night. No, we're not usually that loud. My amp
was too loud, which caused Gene to turn up, then eventually Chris turned
up, too. My bad. We've talked about it extensively
this week (I've got exhaustive email threads to prove it), and
we understand the root cause (me) as well as the solution (me
behave). Hopefully we didn't take away too much of your
hearing that night.
Well, I hope you enjoy these pictures --
there's 83 of them! Some of the
captions are rather silly. And from putting this together, I think I
know everyone's name, so don't freak out if I wave
you down at Acme or something. And hey, if anyone wants their
picture (or caption) removed/altered, let us know so we can properly extort
money from you.
This Saturday, we're in the area
at E's Irish Pub. Click on the Appearances link on the left
side of the page to see when and where we'll be in the coming
weeks. And, if you need directions to any of the locations, click
on the Crossroads Calendar (also on the Appearances page), then
click on the date, and then look for the 'Map It' link
provided.
